McCann Associates, a division of Vantage Labs, has produced and delivered Florida’s Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (the PERT) through our CollegeSuccess platform since 2010 and is proud of what it has accomplished. The test was created by a Florida Department of Education directive and has been established as Florida law as a measure of college readiness. We have collaborated with the Florida College System and the Florida Association of College Test Administrators (FACTA) to continually improve the PERT.

On September 30, 2018, McCann Associate’s contract with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) expired and will not be extended past. Please feel assured, that McCann Associates strongly supports the PERT and will continue our commitment to administrators of the test going forward. State contracts expire, but the relationships with our Florida partners does not. We continue to honor the spirit of the state contract in our ongoing relationships with each participating institution and maintain the PERT as we have for the FLDOE for the past 8 years, and most importantly, we will also continue to maintain the contractual rate of $0.94 per unit for the foreseeable future.

Over the past few months, McCann Associates has been working with the FLDOE on increasing the test item banks by nearly 25%, which is now in implementation. With ongoing feedback from the FLDOE and FACTA, we look forward to continue delivering the PERT as the exemplary standard for placement in Florida in the years ahead. Any institution in Florida (K-12, college, university) is eligible to purchase test units from McCann. Test units don’t expire and work with all online assessments offered through the CollegeSuccess® platform. All unit orders are ordered at the Institution Administrator level for distribution to your individual sites. We’d like to draw your attention to additional products offered through the CollegeSuccess platform: Diagnostics and Writing Response Assessments.

Diagnostics are offered for the P.E.R.T. and consume 2 testing units. A Diagnostic test has 50 questions and identifies a student’s individual strengths and weaknesses across multiple competencies which for Florida have been customized to meet the state standards for “college readiness.” This can be quite useful for incoming college students requiring remedial support. It can also be a powerful tool to help measure progress for high school students.

The CollegeSuccess Writing Response Assessments also consume 2 testing units. While not aligned to Florida standards, these use our IntelliMetric™ automated essay scoring technology to measure students’ proficiency in writing aligned to national standards. Students write to a predetermined prompt and are immediately provided with a holistic score as well as scores in:
